A Promising Start to the Season !
Diss vs Ipswich Sunday 16th September 07
Diss 15(7)
Tries 2
Conversions 1
Penalty 1
Ipswich 5(5)
Tries Ethan Wright – 1
In bright autumnal sunshine a well drilled Ipswich side put up a promising season opening performance against a talented Diss team who went on to win the game at their home ground.
Ipswich dominated the first half, narrowly missing a try when the ball was mistakenly landed on the 5m line. The run of play saw Ipswich win significantly more possession and territory than Diss who were slightly dazed by the strong Ipswich performance. Despite the Ipswich onslaught , Diss maintained their composure and took great advantage from a breakaway back move from inside their own half to score beneath the posts.
The second half was well contested by both sides with Diss gaining the upper hand in terms of points scored. All in all a well balanced game with every player in the Ipswich team giving a good account of themselves.
Coaches and parents alike found the game both exciting and rewarding to watch. The early season training has clearly been beneficial with the team showing considerable promise.
A good start !!
